Girls’ Generation to Endorse Video Game Brand ‘Freestyle Sports’
On December 15th, JCE chose Girls’ Generation as the models for their representative bundled game brand, “Freestyle Sports”, for this winter. They will begin official marketing activities by releasing Girls’ Generation characters.
By taking the first attempt at star marketing in the gaming world working with girl groups, JCE chose Girls’ Generation for this winter’s “Freestyle Sports” brand, which will include “Freestyle”, “Freestyle Football”, and “Freestyle2″. Three members of Girls’ Generation will be released for each game, becoming the faces of “Freestyle Sports”. There will also be online and offline promotions to spread the name of “Freestyle Sports”.
JCE representative Song Insoo stated, “The Freestyle series has held their place as Korea’s representative online sports game with soccer and basketball genres. We thought it would coincide with Korea’s national girl group, Girls’ Generation. Also, as ‘Freestyle Sports’ and Girls’ Generation both have a great amount of male fans, we think it will cause a good synergy effect.”
With the upcoming release of Girls’ Generation characters, starting on the 15th, an event will be held called “Guess which Girls’ Generation member will appear in which game!” The event will be held on the “Freestyle“, “Freestyle Football“, and “Freestyle2” homepages at the same time, and fans will have to guess which members will appear in which game. They will be able to take part by leaving comments on the pages accordingly, and the winner, who will be drawn at random, will win a “Girls’ Generation character”.
A teaser video was also released for an upcoming CF for “Freestyle Sports”. The teaser shows scenes from the filming of the CF featuring Girls’ Generation members participating in various sports. Check out the teaser below.

Girls’ Generation Greets Rookies with ‘Ninety-Degree Bows’
Recently, a netizen posted on an online community board a video titled “A Pink Greeting Girls’ Generation”, where it showed the two groups greeting one another at the end of a music program. The video captured Sunny and Yoona bowing at a ninety-degree angle in response to A Pink members greeting them with a respectful bow.
Previously on a radio show, Girls’ Generation talked about the problem they face with rookie groups, saying, ”Rookie groups are uncomfortable around us and think that we’re hard to approach, so we greet them loudly first and do ninety-degree bows. It’s only been four years since we debuted, so rather than getting greeted, we think it’s right to greet them first with enthusiasm.”
Netizens expressed their surprise, commenting: “They weren’t just saying it; they really did bow at ninety degrees”, “Girls’ Generation is well-known for greeting others well”, and “It’s heartwarming”.
