Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’ Music Video Most Shared on Facebook
The social music venture company, Muse Alive, compiled 89,459 K-Pop music video links that were shared on Facebook and found that “The Boys” was shared the most for a total of 959 times. Gee was shared 200 times and came in fifth. Girls’ Generation had the most music videos shared among Korean artists, taking an impressive eleven of the top fifty spots.
“The Boys” music video has proved to be a success in 2011, reaching a total of 25 million views two months after its release on SMTOWN’s Youtube channel. Gee, the song that arguably propelled Girls’ Generation to the top of the music industry, is still maintaining its popularity among fans, having just passed sixty million views on Youtube.

Girls’ Generation is the Fastest Star on KakaoTalk to Surpass 200,000 Friends
Girls’ Generation’s popularity continues onto KakaoTalk.
Girls’ Generation recently formed a partnership with KakaoTalk’s “Plus Friend” service. “Plus Friend”, hosted by KakaoTalk Inc., is a service where users can add artists, brands, magazines, and other services to their friends lists and receive related information quickly and easily through KakaoTalk.
“Girls’ Generation Plus Friend”, which opened on December 28th, recorded 211,038 friends on December 29th. This makes Girls’ Generation the fastest star in the history of “Plus Friend” to have had over 200,000 users add them to their friend list.
KakaoTalk users are expected to show high interest in “Plus Friend” as users can receive content concerning Girls’ Generation’s concert info, recent news, video clips, and pictures live through the “Girls’ Generation Plus Friend” service.
In addition, signed CDs and posters will be given to five randomly selected users who join the service between December 28th and January 11th. Prize winners will be announced on January 18th.

Girls’ Generation Shines on the Red Carpet
Girls’ Generation members dazzled on the red carpet for SBS “Gayo Daejun” on December 29th. The members’ flowing gowns commanded everyone’s attention as they posed for a brief photo shoot before the awards show. Though most of the members had long dresses that showcased their elegant style, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon stood out with their skirts that gave off a more playful vibe while still retaining the group’s elegance.

Behind-The-Scenes Footage of Girls’ Generation’s Freestyle Sports CF Released
Behind-the-scenes footage of the filming for Girls’ Generation’s “FreeStyle Sports” CF has just recently released. In the video, Yoona is seen laughing as she is filmed running, while Sooyoung threw sand into the air and donned a pair of goalie gloves. Finally, Jessica and Hyoyeon are shown playing basketball, where Jessica even managed to score a basket. All the members could be seen smiling and having fun as they posed for photos and videos. The video ends with a trailer of the CF. Wallpapers featuring Girls’ Generation were also released through the official website of “FreeStyle Sports”. In addition to the group wallpaper above, nine individual wallpapers were also released.

Girls’ Generation Wins Two Bugs Music Awards
Bugs, a Korean music site, recently announced the winners of the “Bugs 2011 Music Awards”. On December 28th, Bugs released the results for the Bugs 2011 Music Awards. Girls’ Generation won in two categories, “Best Female Group” and “Tap Sonic Best Play” for “Gee”.
Voting was opened on 8th, and for two weeks until the 22nd, fans were allowed to vote once a day for their favorite artist in each category. Girls’ Generation was nominated for several categories, including “Netizens’ Popularity Award”, “Best Female Group” and “Tap Sonic Best Play”.
Congratulations to Girls’ Generation for winning yet another award in 2011.

Tiffany and Yuri Receive Special MC Award at MBC Entertainment Awards
On December 29th, Tiffany and Yuri were presented with a special award in the MC category at the MBC Entertainment Awards. Tiffany and Yuri have been extremely popular MC’s on “Show! Music Core”, and they were specially recognized for their talent.
They said, “Thank you for all the staff who work with us since the early mornings for one hour of broadcasting.” They then listed every one of the staff members’ names and also said, “We are happy just being able to watch the seniors and juniors every week.”
Fans immediately reacted with excitement over the news with “MC YulTi” trending worldwide on Twitter in 7th place. Congratulations to Tiffany and Yuri on their accomplishment. Check out a clip of their acceptance speech below.
